8 min simple black bean noodles, Jjajang Ramyeon
Watch how to make it
Hello, everyone. It’s good to see you again! It's
getting hotter these days. The dish I'm going to introduce today is a dish that
I made for my husband with only ingredients at home a few days ago. It's
jjajangmyeon. Jjajangmyeon is a very popular Korean-Chinese dish that Koreans
like very much. Jjajangmyeon is a noodle dish in a black bean sauce. It takes
time to make it at home, so Koreans like to go to a restaurant to eat
Jjajangmyeon. When I lived in Korea, I often had Jjajangmyeon at restaurants.
Today, I will introduce Jjajangmyeon that tastes like a restaurant flavor using
instant Jjajangmyeon. Then, let's make it together!
Ingredients: 1 Instant Jjajangmyeon, a bit of cucumber, half an onion, 1/4 zucchini, 5 shrimp (medium size), a bit of cucumber
This is Korean instant Jjajangmyeon. This is
Chapagetti made by a Korean company called Nongshim. This is Jjajangmyeon made
by a Korean company called Paldo. Actually, this is the jjajang ramyeon that I
bought for the first time. Let's see the difference between the two. In
Chapagetti, there is one noodle, 1 package of powdered black bean sauce, 1
packet of dried flakes, and 1 packet of olive oil. It is a ramyeon brand that
is sold a lot in Korea. In Paldo Black Bean Noodles, there's 1 noodle and a
jjajang sauce that's already made instead of jjajang powder soup. Today, I'm
going to use Paldo Black Bean Noodles so that it tastes like Jjajangmyeon sold
in a restaurant. Both Chapagetti and Paldo Black Bean Noodles can be purchased
at Korean food stores or Amazon.com. And if you have black bean powder sauce at
home, you can use spaghetti instead of instant noodles.
How to make it
Step 1: Preparing Ingredients
Slice the cucumber thinly. Julienne it again. I'm going to use it as a garnish. If you don't have cucumber, you can skip it.
Onion is a must-have ingredient. Cut it in half. Cut it into 1/2-inch cubes. If you stir-fry onions later, the water comes out and the size will decrease.
If
you have a zucchini, slice it into 1/2-inch size and cut it into 1/2-inch
cubes. If you don't have zucchini, you can skip this.
Step 2: Stir-frying Ingredients
Add 2 tablespoons of oil to the preheated pan. Add the sliced onion and stir-fry it. Then add zucchini. and shrimp.
Add 1 tablespoon of soy sauce. Then the ingredients will be seasoned and delicious. Continue stir-frying it for about 1 minute.
Add jjajang sauce (black bean sauce). Mix them well until all the ingredients are coated well with the jjajang sauce. At this stage, you don’t need to add water. But if you use powdered black bean sauce, you have to add 1/2 cup of water or so. At this stage, if you like the spicy flavor, you can add some red pepper powder or red pepper paste.
This is a ready sauce.
Step 3: Boiling Noodles
Put the noodles in the boiling water. Boil it for about 4 minutes.
After 4 minutes, drain the
noodles in a strainer.
Step 4: Plating Noodles
Place the drained noodles in a bowl.
Pour the jjajang sauce next to the noodles or over the noodles.
You can garnish with sliced
cucumbers. A very simple but tasty jjajangmyeon is done!
Today, we made Jjajangmyeon that tastes like
restaurant style using instant Jjajangmyeon. It became a simple and delicious
meal with the ingredients at home. If you want to eat Jjajangmyeon, why don’t
you try to make it in the way that I introduced today. I will be back with a
simple and delicious dish next time. Thank you! Bye bye!
