 Korean Marinated Eggs

 


Hello, everyone! Hope you are doing well! The dish I want to introduce today is one of the popular side dishes in Korea. It's Marinated Eggs. If you make enough, you can put them in the refrigerator for about a week and keep eating them. If you mix rice with marinated eggs, it's great for a meal. Then, let's make it together! 

 

Ingredients: 6 eggs, 1/2 onion, 1/2 red bell pepper, 2 green onions, 1 tablespoon sesame seeds

Seasoning: 1/2 cup soy sauce, 1/2 cup water, 4 tablespoons sugar 



How to make it

Step 1: Boiling eggs 

Pour plenty of water into the pot. When the water boils, add half a tablespoon of salt. Add half a tablespoon of vinegar.

Then, add eggs one by one.

When it starts to boil, stir the eggs for about a minute gently. Then the egg yolks go in the middle. Boil them for about 8 minutes. The key point of this dish is not to boil the egg completely, but to cook the egg yolk half-cooked. If you want more cooked eggs, boil for another 1 minute or so.

Put the boiled eggs in cold water for about 5 minutes. If you put it in cold water, you can peel egg shells easily. Peel the boiled eggs. 

If you hit the boiled eggs against each other, it's easy to peel.


Step 2: Preparing Ingredients 

Slice the onion thinly. And chop the sliced onion finely.

Slice the red bell pepper thinly. Finely chop it again. Chop the scallions into small pieces. 

Step 3: Making sauce 

Pour 1/2 cup of soy sauce into the container. Pour 1/2 cup of water and 4 tablespoons of sugar. 

Stir well to dissolve the sugar. 

Add all the ingredients which you just cut. Sliced onions. Sliced red bell pepper. Sliced scallions. 

6 boiled eggs. Add 1 tablespoon of sesame seeds.

You can put the lid on and put it in the refrigerator for half a day before you eat it. You can keep it in the refrigerator within a week.

Step 4: How you eat it

Place an egg on top of the rice. And put the sauce on top. Add a bit of sesame oil. It's very good to mix it with rice.

  • 2. Chop the onion and red bell pepper finely. Chop the scallions thinly. 
  • 3. Pour 1/2 cup of soy sauce, 1/2 cup of water, and 4 tablespoons of sugar. Stir well. Add sliced onions, red bell pepper, scallions, and 6 boiled eggs. Add 1 tablespoon of sesame seeds.

Notes

  • If you boil eggs with salt, you can peel the egg shells easily.
  • The reason for adding vinegar is that if an egg is broken, vinegar has the ingredient that solidifies the protein, preventing the white from coming out.
  • Take the egg out of the refrigerator before boiling and place it for about 30 minutes at room temperature. Then, it doesn't break when boiling.
  • If you like spicy food, it's good to add chili peppers instead of bell pepper.
