How to eat

Koreans typically use metal spoons and chopsticks. They use a spoon to eat soup and rice. A basic Korean table setting always includes kimchi. There are radish kimchi and napa cabbage kimchi, as well as the cucumber salad, cod pancakes, braised tofu, and stir-fried zucchini we made today. If the cod pancakes taste bland, you can dip them in soy sauce. Soy sauce always appears in traditional Korean table settings.

When eating rice, Koreans do not hold the bowl but leave it on the table and scoop the rice with a spoon. They use chopsticks to eat the side dishes they want and also use a spoon for the soup. The side dishes and soups can vary depending on the season and the ingredients. Rice is the staple food for Koreans, so there is a wide variety and development of side dishes.

Today, I showed you the side dishes and soup that I frequently eat with rice, the way Koreans do. I hope this has been helpful to you. I'll see you next time. Thank you and goodbye.

Notes

  • Adding salted shrimp to zucchini stir-fry makes it tastier.
  • Putting onions in the pot first keeps tofu from sticking and makes it more flavorful.
  • Slice beef against the grain for extra tenderness. Pick any beef cut you like.
