Potato Cheese Hotteok

Potato hotteok is a delicious snack made with a soft potato dough filled with sweet sugar, nuts, and savory cheese. The combination of savory potatoes, sweet filling, and melting cheese creates an unforgettable unique flavor. Now, you can make it at home for a healthy and tasty treat.

Ingredients

  • 3 potatoes
  • 4 T potato starch
  • 1T sugar
  • 1/2 t salt
  • 1T mayonnaise

Fillings

  • 2T brown sugar
  • Some peanuts
  • Some mozzarella cheese

Instructions

Potatoes: Peel and cut 3 potatoes into small pieces. Microwave with 2 tablespoons of water for 6-7 minutes (or boil/steam them).


Peanut Filling: Crush peanuts and mix with 2 tablespoons of brown sugar and a pinch of salt.


Mash Potatoes: Once cooked, add 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1 tablespoon sugar, and 1 tablespoon mayonnaise. Mash while hot, then mix in 4 tablespoons potato starch. Knead the dough.



Shape Dough: Form the dough into a log and cut into 6 pieces. Press each piece to make a pocket, fill with mozzarella or peanut mixture, and seal. Flatten slightly.





Cook: Heat a pan with 1 tablespoon oil (and optional butter). Cook hotteok on medium-low heat for 5-6 minutes per side until golden brown.
