Spinach namul is a simple yet nutritious side dish with a delightful, nutty flavor. Made with fresh spinach and a few basic seasonings, it’s an easy and healthy dish that anyone can prepare.

Ingredients

  • 7 oz (200g) spinach
  • 1/2 tablespoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon tuna fish sauce (or 1/2 tablespoon if less spinach)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon ground sesame seeds
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon chopped green onions

Instructions

Step 1

Add 1/2 tablespoon of salt to boiling water, then blanch the spinach for 1-2 minutes, starting from the root end. (Tip: Adding salt helps the spinach retain its bright color.)

Step 2

Drain the spinach and rinse it in cold water. Lightly squeeze out the excess water. Cut the spinach into bite-sized pieces.

Step 3

In a bowl, mix the spinach with 1 tablespoon of tuna fish sauce, 1 tablespoon of sesame oil, 1 tablespoon of ground sesame seeds, 1 teaspoon of minced garlic, and 1 tablespoon of chopped green onions. Toss well.
