Korean Pan-Fried Tofu Patties 

Dubu Donggeurangttaeng

Tofu Donggeurangttaeng is a delicious Korean-style tofu patty that's pan-fried until golden and slightly crispy on the outside, while soft and savory on the inside. Made with mashed tofu, chopped vegetables, and a touch of seasoning, these bite-sized patties are packed with flavor and protein. They’re perfect as a banchan (side dish), lunchbox item, or even as a light meal. Tofu donggeurangttaeng is loved for its wholesome ingredients, simple preparation, and comforting taste. Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (450g) tofu
  • some chopped onion 
  • some chopped carrot 
  • some chopped chives or green onions
  • 1 tbsp tuna fish sauce
  • ½ tbsp cooking wine
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tbsp starch powder (add 1 more tbsp if needed)
  • A little black pepper (optional)
  • Some cooking oil

Instructions:

Step1

Drain and crumble tofu – Press out excess moisture using a kitchen towel or cheesecloth.

Step 2

In a bowl, combine tofu, some chopped onion, carrot, chives, 1 tbsp tuna fish sauce, ½ tbsp cooking wine, 1 tsp sugar, ½ tsp salt, 1 egg, 3 tbsp starch powder, and a little black pepper. Mix well. Check consistency – If the mixture is too soft, add 1 more tbsp of starch.




Step 3

Heat a pan with 2 tbsp oil. Scoop spoonfuls of the mixture and place them in the pan. Cook on medium-low heat – When the bottom turns golden brown, flip and cook the other side. Once both sides are crispy and golden, your savory tofu patties are ready!
